Families claim 3 youths were killed execution-style by the Malaysian police

As reported by the STAR on 9th June 2011.

On November 13th, 2010 in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, three youths, Muhd Shamil Hafiz Shapiei, 15, Hairul Nizam Tuah, 20, and Mohd Hanafi Omar, 22, allegedly armed with machetes, had robbed a petrol station at U1/1, Shah Alam and were in their getaway car when spotted by a police special crime prevention unit in the area.

After a high-speed chase, the suspects' car turned turtle at Jalan Kerjaya Glenmarie and the three then tried to attack the policemen with machetes.

As a result, the three youths, died after police opened fire.

The trio were suspected to be involved in a string of petrol stations robberies around Klang Valley.

However today, 9th June 2011, the families of the three youths, are claiming they have evidence the trio were killed execution-style by the police.

Lawyer N. Surendran, representing the families, alleged that the post mortem and Chemistry Department reports for two of the victims contradicted the police's version of events.

In the aftermath of the November 13h 2010 incident, the then acting Selangor police chief Datuk A. Thaiveegan said his men had no choice but to open fire at the three, believed to be members of "Geng Minyak" which targeted petrol stations.

"The report reveals that Muhd Shamil was shot in the forehead at a 45-degree angle, which suggests he was either kneeling or squatting when he was shot.

"This clearly contradicts the version by the police that he was shot while running towards the them," Surendran said, adding that the gunshot wound to Muhd Shamil's chest was also at a similar 45-degree angle.

Surendran also said according to the Chemistry Department's report, there were traces of gunshot residue on Muhd Shamil's jacket.

"If he (Muhd Shamil) was running from a distance towards his attackers, he would not have the gunshot residue on him.

"Muhd Shamil and the other two were clearly shot at point-blank distance. They were murdered execution-style," Surendran told a press conference at the PKR headquarters in Tropicana here Thursday.

He added that Hairul's gunshot wounds were on his chest and left side of the head.

"If he was running straight towards the cops, then how could it be the gunshot entree wound was on the side of the head?"

The post mortem report for Mohd Hanafi is not available yet but family members who saw the body after the shooting noted two shots to the head and chest respectively, Surendran claimed.

The families of the slain youths have urged the police to act on the latest findings and arrest the police officers and charge them with murder.

My say > if someone run away after being ordered to stop by the police, that means something is wrong with that person. If you are innocent, why run away??
